From January 12 to 14, H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, led a delegation to Terengganu and Kelantan, where they visited key infrastructure sites along the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative undertaken by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). The delegation inspected progress at Kuala Terengganu Station, Kota Bharu Station, and the Terengganu Mega Bridge. During the visit, Ambassador Ouyang emphasized the importance of workplace safety and distributed special Chinese New Year care packages to Chinese employees working on-site. CECCM President Ni Qingjiu joined the delegation for this visit.
Ambassador Ouyang conveyed his appreciation and extended New Year greetings to the frontline Chinese employees, reiterating the importance of construction safety and employee welfare. In light of the upcoming Chinese New Year, CECCM calls on all Chinese enterprises to uphold the highest safety standards, ensuring both quality and efficiency in project execution while fostering stronger bilateral cooperation between China and Malaysia.
Support for Flood Relief and Strengthening Local Engagement
During this visit, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia extended its support to flood-affected communities on the East Coast by distributing humanitarian aid. In response, CECCM is calling on Chinese enterprises to contribute to relief efforts and assist in rebuilding the affected areas.
On the evenings of January 13 and 14, CECCM participated in community dinners in Terengganu and Kelantan, engaging in discussions with the local Chinese business community on investment development and market expansion. CECCM also shared insights into China’s development experience. Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening collaboration and driving sustained economic growth in the region.
Promoting Educational and Cultural Cooperation
On January 13, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) hosted a donation ceremony for the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship.” Ambassador Ouyang and UMT Vice-Chancellor Professor Mazlan delivered speeches at the event, which was attended by multiple diplomats from the Chinese Embassy and over 100 faculty members and students. CECCM President Ni Qingjiu was invited to attend, representing Chinese enterprises in Malaysia and witnessing this meaningful occasion.
The establishment of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship reflects the Embassy’s commitment to fostering educational and cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia. As a key platform for Chinese enterprises in Malaysia, CECCM encourages its members to actively fulfill their corporate social responsibilities, strengthen cooperation in education and cultural initiatives, and contribute to the vision of a shared future for China and Malaysia, further deepening bilateral relations.
