On 20 October 2026, the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) attended the opening ceremony of Transport Expo Asia 2026 (TXA 2026) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. The event featured an opening address by Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, YB Loke Siew Fook, and was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport, YB Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Habibollah, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, YBhg. Dato’ Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, alongside government officials and industry representatives. The CECCM delegation was led by President Ni Qingjiu, Vice President Sun Liguo and Treasurer Yang Zhijun, together with representatives from member companies.

Held from 20 to 22 October 2026 under the theme “Future on the Move: Accelerating Next-Gen Transport”, the expo focuses on four key areas: digitalisation, sustainable mobility, agile logistics and ESG-driven supply chains. According to the organisers, the event brings together 410 participating companies and features 40 conference sessions covering transport digitalisation, decarbonisation, road safety and regional connectivity across the land, rail, aviation, maritime and logistics sectors.

In his welcoming remarks, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Dato’ Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, emphasised that transport development should go beyond infrastructure construction and adopt a people-centric approach, delivering tangible benefits to communities and businesses. He highlighted the importance of balancing technological innovation, safety and sustainability, while strengthening collaboration among governments, the private sector and international partners to enhance regional connectivity, trade and supply chain development.

In his opening address, Minister of Transport Loke Siew Fook described TXA 2026 as more than a trade exhibition, positioning it as a strategic platform connecting government policies with industry innovation to shape the future of transportation in Asia. He highlighted Malaysia’s continued efforts under the National Transport Policy 2019–2030 to improve transport infrastructure, enhance safety and promote sustainability. He also noted that the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) was expected to commence operations in December 2026, while the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link was scheduled to begin operations in February 2027.

The Minister further stressed the importance of ensuring that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) benefit from the transformation of the transport sector. He noted that TXA 2026 provides opportunities for businesses to strengthen international partnerships, enhance technological capabilities and participate in global supply chains. The expo also serves as a platform to promote ASEAN regional cooperation and investment in green technology, digital automation and smart infrastructure. He expressed his hope that TXA would become a biennial event organised by the Ministry of Transport, with the next edition taking place in 2028.

During the event, CECCM leaders and representatives from member companies visited exhibition booths showcasing developments in rail transportation, ports and logistics, gaining insights into Malaysia’s transport infrastructure and industry trends.

TXA 2026 provided a valuable platform for government agencies, industry organisations and businesses to exchange insights and explore potential collaboration. For Chinese enterprises operating in Malaysia, the event offered opportunities to better understand the country’s transport policies, technological advancements and emerging industry trends. CECCM will continue to follow developments in these sectors and strengthen its role as a bridge in facilitating engagement and cooperation between member enterprises, Malaysian government agencies and industry stakeholders.
