On 27 September, the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) held a farewell meeting for H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia. Ambassador Ouyang and representatives of all CECCM Committee Member companies attended the event.、
During the meeting, Ambassador Ouyang reflected on his nearly six years of service in Malaysia. He noted that China-Malaysia relations are currently at their best in history, with frequent high-level exchanges between the two countries and growing positive sentiment towards China among Malaysians. The favourable public sentiment has contributed to continued growth in bilateral economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges.
He noted that China-Malaysia trade, engineering contracting and two-way investment have continued to grow steadily, while the number of Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia and Chinese students studying in Malaysia has increased significantly. He encouraged Chinese enterprises to seize the opportunities of the times, establish themselves locally and work together with Malaysian enterprises for mutual benefit.
Ambassador Ouyang said that for enterprises operating overseas, success begins with how they conduct themselves. Enterprises should uphold the principles of honesty and integrity, put themselves in others’ shoes and build good relationships.
He stressed that opportunities and challenges coexist. Enterprises should view new issues arising in their operations from a balanced perspective, conduct business in accordance with laws and regulations, strictly observe workplace safety requirements, properly handle labour disputes, actively fulfil their social responsibilities, deepen engagement with local communities, work with Malaysian partners for mutual benefit, respond actively to public concerns and effectively resolve frictions arising in the course of cooperation.
Ambassador Ouyang said that the Embassy has always upheld the principle of diplomacy for the people, safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises in accordance with the law, and served as a strong source of support for Chinese enterprises in Malaysia.
He also encouraged enterprise teams to maintain high morale, overcome difficulties and challenges, and be ready to take on challenges and achieve results. He urged enterprises to seize the favourable momentum of China-Malaysia relations and continue exploring cooperation potential in areas such as artificial intelligence, the green economy, big data and computing centres, contributing to the steady and sustained development of practical cooperation between China and Malaysia.
Ambassador Ouyang expressed his appreciation to the enterprises for their support for the Embassy over the years. He hoped that Chinese enterprises in Malaysia would continue to play a bridging role, tell the story of China-Malaysia friendship well, and contribute to building a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
CECCM Secretary-General Zhou Jiayi, Vice President Peng Anping and other representatives of participating enterprises expressed their appreciation to Ambassador Ouyang for the support and assistance he had extended to the Chamber and enterprises during his tenure.
CECCM President Ni Qingjiu said that the Chamber would keep Ambassador Ouyang’s advice in mind, take a long-term and steady approach to development, continue guiding Chinese enterprises to uphold compliance requirements, deepen cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises, strengthen awareness of corporate social responsibility, promote closer people-to-people ties between China and Malaysia, and advance the building of a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future through concrete actions.
