CECCM's 2023 Annual Dinner Held in the Theme of “China-Malaysia Business, Success Through Collaboration”

The 2023 Annual Dinner of the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) was held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on January 26, 2024.

H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Malaysia, Mr Sun Shuqiang, Minister Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of China in Malaysia, the Chinese and Malaysian media, and members of CECCM gathered together to celebrate the event, and to look forward to a new chapter in the friendly exchanges between China and Malaysia.

Using the keywords “gratitude, pioneering, challenge and win-win”, Honorary President Mr. Zhang Min recounted his four years as President of CECCM, and expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from various parties. He emphasized CECCM’s fruitful achievements in China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation, community welfare and member services, as well as the Chamber’s continuous efforts to innovate and respond positively to challenges amidst internal and external changes. The CECCM’s membership grew from 114 at the beginning of 2019 to 316 now, a growth rate of 177%. He expressed his gratitude to the China Embassy in Malaysia, government departments from China and Malaysia, the community and all members for their support, and wished the new leadership team to get greater achievements, and looked forward to continuing to work together to create more opportunities for cooperation in the future.

 

The new President, Mr. Ni Qingjiu, expressed his honor to be elected as President of CECCM. He emphasized that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, he would do his utmost to work hand in hand with the new Council to make greater contributions to CECCM and China-Malaysia economic and trade exchanges, with a view to strengthening China-Malaysia friendship and cooperation. He pledged to focus on the needs of members by providing business counseling, market analysis and networking opportunities. CECCM will promote cooperation with the government, associations, enterprises, universities and charitable organizations to create more development opportunities for members. President Mr. Ni Qingjiu thanked the China Embassy in Malaysia, MITI, and Honorary President Zhang Min for their support and wished everyone a happy New Year.

H.E. Ouyang Yujing fully recognized CECCM’s achievements in the past year, as it actively participated in the high-quality “Belt and Road Initiative” cooperation, focused on future trends, took the lead in fulfilling its social responsibilities, and played a role in bringing together Chinese enterprises and connecting China and Malaysia. H.E. Ouyang Yujing introduced the spirit of the Central Working Conference on Foreign Affairs and the Conference on the Work of Ambassadors Abroad, and expressed his hope that in the coming year, CECCM would grasp the overall situation and trend, and lead the majority of Chinese enterprises in seizing the new opportunities arising from the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, and create new achievements, as well as implementing standardized overseas operations, production safety and social responsibility.

 

YB Liew Chin Tong pointed out that the Malaysian economy has the opportunity to take off for the second time. In this opportunity, it is hoped that under the leadership of the CECCM, Chinese enterprises in Malaysia can become ambassadors of cooperation and exchanges between the two countries. Enterprises from both countries can follow the trend, strengthen cooperation and docking, gain a deeper understanding of each other’s country’s systems and policies, and join hands to explore more business opportunities, open up a wider market, and contribute to the mutual understanding among the people.

 

Mr. Zhang Min was appointed as Honorary President and was presented with the Certificate of Appointment by the new President, Mr. Ni Qingjiu, and witnessed by H.E. Ouyang Yujing, YB Liew Chin Tong and Mr. Sun Shuqiang.
