The 7th China International Import Expo Promotion Event (Malaysia) was held at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on January 22, 2024 (Monday), with the participation of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce (CECCM) as a co-organizer. H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Malaysia, Mr. Sun Shuqiang, Minister Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of China in Malaysia, Mr Sun Chenghai, Deputy Director of China International Import Expo Bureau (CIIEB), Tan Sri Dato‘ Low Kian Chuan, President of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Of Malaysia and Mr. Zhang Min, President of CECCM attended the event. More than 200 Chinese and Malaysian enterprises and organizations participated in the event.

 

H.E. Ouyang Yujing pointed out that the expo has been successfully held for six sessions and achieved fruitful results. The fact that the expo promotion event was held in Malaysia reflects the importance that China attaches to Malaysian enterprises. He hoped to see more Malaysian companies and products entering the Chinese market through this platform.

 

YB Liew Chin Tong emphasized that high-end manufacturing industries such as electrical and electronics, aerospace, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and chemicals are currently the focus of Malaysia’s development. The government hopes to attract more FDI and domestic investment to promote the growth of Malaysia’s high-end manufacturing and high-end service industries.

 

Deputy Director Mr. Sun Seng Hai welcomed more Malaysian enterprises to utilize the platform of the Fair to promote their high-quality and unique products, technologies and services to the Chinese and global markets. The expo has become an excellent platform for Malaysia to showcase its uniqueness to China and the world.

 

President Mr. Zhang Min said that this year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, and China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years. In this context, the expo will further build a broad stage for the economic and trade cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises, which is an important platform to share the fruits of China’s opening up with Malaysian enterprises. Mr. Zhang Min expressed his welcome to all old and new friends attending the Expo and looked forward to more fruitful cooperation between the two countries.

 

Malaysia has participated in the expo for six consecutive years and was the guest of honor at the second one. This promotion is the first offline activity of the expo in Malaysia, which is of great significance in promoting the active participation of Malaysian enterprises in the expo and promoting economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia.
