CECCM and MCA PRC Affairs & BRI Committee to explore opportunities for China-Malaysia cooperation

On January 18, 2024, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, Deputy President of Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and Chairman of MCA PRC Affairs & BRI Committee and his entourage paid a visit to the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce (CECCM) to discuss China-Malaysia economic and trade relations and opportunities for cooperation under BRI. The meeting was attended by Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, Chairman of MCA PRC Affairs & BRI Committee; Datuk Kang Meng Fuat, Deputy Chairman of MCA PRC Affairs & BRI Committee; Datuk Koh Chin Han, Deputy Chairman and General Secretary;  Mr. Yoh Shang Yun, Treasurer; Mr. Wang Dawei, Director of Xinhua News.

During the meeting, both sides focused on how to strengthen the cooperation between China and Malaysia in terms of economy, trade and culture. , Datuk Tan Teik Cheng believes that the recent trend of Chinese enterprises’ investment in Malaysia has been on the rise, and the investment in high-end manufacturing and high-end service industries has also been growing rapidly, so the cooperation between China and Malaysia has a huge potential for development. With the recent visa exemption between China and Malaysia, the communication and cooperation between the two countries are more frequent, which brings good opportunities for the economic development of both sides.

Mr. Zhang Min, President of CECCM introduced the Chamber’s role in promoting China-Malaysia economic and trade relations, in particular its initiatives to promote multi-faceted cooperation under the BRI. He recognized that cooperation and exchange between the CECCM and local business associations is an important way for entrepreneurs from both countries to enhance their understanding of each other, thereby promoting economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia. Mr. Zhang Min also introduced the overall situation and trend of Chinese enterprises investing in Malaysia recently, and said that the CECCM will further play its role as a bridge between China and Malaysia in economic and trade exchanges.

 

It is worth mentioning that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, which is an important opportunity for the two countries to further enhance bilateral cooperation. Both sides expressed their expectations for deepening China-Malaysia economic and trade ties, sharing more development opportunities and realizing mutual benefits in the future.
