CECCM Boat Donation Handover  Ceremony

On 15th July, 2022, China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (hereinafter referred to as: CECCM) successfully held a boat donation ceremony in Malacca to present 10 lifeboats to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force for future flood rescue work. Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) YB Senator Datuk Lim Ban Hong, Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Mr. Tang Rui, Senior Colonel Zhang Ge, Defence Attaché of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, President of CECCM, Mr. Zhang Min, The official representative of Yang Amat Setia Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Roydee bin Abd Rahman ,members of the Malacca Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCCI), and members of CECCM, media partners were present to attended this meaningful ceremony.

Under the call of CECCM, a total of 10 lifeboats worth RM110,000 were donated to aid Malaysia’s flood relief effort. Seven of the lifeboats were donated by CECCM members while the other three were donated by CECCM. Details as below:

China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM)

President of CECCM, Zhang Min stated that Malaysia is the second home of Chinese enterprises in Malaysia and when the flood hits Malaysia, the situation of the affected victim is on the mind of CECCM. Back in November 2017, CECCM had joined hands with its members to raise RM350,000 to aid the Penang floods where RM200,000 was donated to the Malaysian National Security Council and RM150,000 to the Nanyang Press Foundation. CECCM lifeboat donation campaign is intended to help the flood victims to escape from the floods in time. He said that this year marks the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China and the 20th anniversary of the CECCM’s establishment. He hoped that Chinese enterprises in Malaysia would play a more active role in the future to help each other and build a better home of unity and prosperity for both countries.

Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Mr. Tang Rui praised CECCM for its effort and generosity. He said that CECCM’s ability to act as a bridge for Chinese enterprises and to rally the generosity of its members to contribute to the flood relief efforts fully demonstrates the commitment and good image of Chinese enterprises in fulfilling their social responsibilities. He also said that Malacca has been an important trade location between China and Malaysia since long ago where it has played a pivotal role in the promotion and development of the “One Belt and One Road” initiatives. Therefore, the donation ceremony in Malacca also has a very special historical significance. He noted that more and more Chinese companies are investing in Malacca, bringing innovative technology and a new era of prosperity to Malaysia. He encouraged Chinese companies to continue to strengthen their cooperation with Malaysian communities to create a brighter future for both countries.

On behalf of the Malaysian government, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) YB Senator Datuk Lim Ban Hong thanked CECCM for donating 10 lifeboats to support the flood relief work in Malaysia. He said that despite the pandemic in the past two years, the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Malaysia and China had risen against the trend and recorded a trade volume of US$176.8 billion, which fully reflected the strong potential and vitality of both countries. CECCM has been maintaining regular meetings and communication with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Ministry of Investment and Development (MIDA), and both sides are working together to expand the economic and trade relations between the two countries and to achieve greater development in China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation. As the Member of Parliament for Malacca, he hopes that more quality Chinese companies will come to Malacca for business development and the Ministry of Trade and Industry will strive to create a good investment environment to welcome their arrival.

The token of appreciation with phrases “马到功成” means to gain success and victory.

Malacca is also known as “马六甲” in Mandarin.

“马” means horse, the horse symbolized power and energetic.

President of CECCM, Zhang Min presented token of appreciation to the Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Mr. Tang Rui.

Afterwards, the official representative of Yang Amat Setia Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Roydee bin Abd Rahman presented a letter of appreciation to the representatives of the donating companies.

 CECCM thanked the donoting companies for their kind generosity and participation in the flood relief work in Malaysia.

CECCM will continue to lead its members in fulfilling their social responsibilities, strengthen the friendship between China and Malaysia through practical actions.
