CECCM Sarawak Working Committee launched successfully

On 23rd Nov 2021 China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) launched the CECCM Sarawak Working Committee successfully. The virtual launching ceremony was hosted by Secretary-General of CECCM, Zhou Jiayi. Honourable guests included Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Zhang Peidong, Consul General of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Cheng Guangzhong, President of CECCM, Zhang Min and the newly appointed President of CECM Sarawak Working Committee, Chai Jie, and members of CECCM.

Secretary-General of CECCM, Zhou Jiayi stated that the establishment of the Sarawak Working Committee is in response to the inevitable needs of China enterprises to further integrate into the Malaysian local market and adapt to the local economic development. It marks the development of China enterprises in Sarawak have progressed into institutionalization under the guidance of CECCM.

President of CECCM Sarawak Working Committee, Chai Jie announced the list of the working committee of the branch and reported the work plan for 2022. The first batch of committee members of the Sarawak branch consisted of nine member companies. He stated that committee members must maintain the spirit of unity and forge ahead to expand the scale of the branch. It aims to increase exchanges with the Sarawak government and the business community, effectively promotes China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation.

President of CECCM, Zhang Min mentioned in his speech that the establishment of more working committee or CECCM branch is one of the missions CECCM this year. He hoped that the branch could earnestly abide by the guidelines which are “coordinate, friendship, promote, research, information, and rights protection”. He hopes that the Sarawak Working Committee will lead all of its members to work together under guidance of  Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching as well as to strengthen communication with all sectors in East Malaysia. He also hopes that the Sarawak Working Committee can act as a bridge to promote exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and Malaysian business communities and ultimately to contribute to the local economy.

Consul General of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Cheng Guangzhong expressed his warm congratulations on the establishment of CECCM Sarawak Working Committee. He pointed out that China and Sarawak are highly complementary in terms of resource endowment, industrial structure and production capacity thus both sides have great potential for cooperation. The establishment of the Sarawak Working Committee has laid a solid foundation for China-Malaysia to strengthen cooperation in the future. He hopes that the branch can lead China enterprises to actively fulfil their social responsibilities and establish a positive corporate image.

Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Zhang Peidong believes that CECCM is striding forward in the midst of pandemic and has made many efforts for the establishment of a new working committee. The union of a group of outstanding China companies to set up the Sarawak Working Committee has successfully achieved the milestone of the establishment of China companies from West Malaysia to East Malaysia, which is a major sign of localization. She hopes that the Sarawak Working Committee will work hard to play its role to speak up for China enterprises and jointly enhance the local competitiveness, so as to cultivate and thrive on the land of Malaysia.
