On November 16, 2023, China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) and China Development Research Center of the State Council co-organized a seminar. The seminar aims to discuss the business development of Chinese enterprises in Malaysia, and the opportunities and challenges they face. Zhang Laiming, Deputy Director of China Development Research Center of the State Council, Sun Shuqiang, Minister Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office of China Embassy in Malaysia, and Zhang Min, President of China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, as well as the representatives of the Chamber’s members attended the seminar.
Deputy Director Zhang Laiming pointed out in his remarks that the group of experts came to Malaysia for research, aiming to gain an in-depth understanding of the insights of Chinese enterprises doing business in Malaysia in practice, in order to listen to the policy recommendations, so as to facilitate the provision of more targeted services for enterprises. He emphasized that looking ahead, Chinese enterprises need to take a more solid step forward in terms of strength, seize the opportunities of China-Malaysia policy, ride on the momentum and contribute to building a closer China-Malaysia economic partnership.
President Zhang Min, welcomed the visit of the expert team from China Development Research Center of the State Council. He felt that this exchange between the Chamber and the Development Research Center provided a unique opportunity for Chinese enterprises to hear the Chinese government’s expectations of their overseas development under the “Belt and Road” initiative. He also gave a brief overview of CECCM and its development in recent years, especially its strengths in actively building bridges and platforms for China-Malaysia exchanges. He said that China and Malaysia have been maintaining friendly exchanges and cooperation in politics and economy, and that the concept of ” Malaysia Madani” is highly compatible with the concept of ” A Community with A Shared Future for Mankind”, and that there will be more opportunities and good prospects for the future development of China and Malaysia.
Minister Counsellor Sun Shuqiang spoke positively of CECCM’s role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Malaysia. He recognized that Chinese enterprises in Malaysia are pioneers in opening up to the outside world and the “Belt and Road” initiative, bringing tangible benefits to the people of the two countries. He remarked that Chinese enterprises should continue to work hard to build more brands with international influence, and should contribute to promoting the economic development of China and Malaysia by taking into account the Malaysian government’s industrial policy and economic development needs.
During the meeting, the participating enterprises introduced the operation of their respective enterprises, expressed their thoughts on the business environment in Malaysia, shared the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese enterprises in Malaysia, and looked forward to wider cooperation in the future in the fields of science and technology innovation, environmental protection, etc. The participating companies are optimistic about the development prospects of Malaysia and look forward to contributing to a better China-Malaysia cooperation.
