On 15 October 2026, the Standards and Accreditation Summit 2026, organised by the Department of Standards Malaysia (JSM) under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), was held at the MITI Tower in Kuala Lumpur. Zoomlion, Committee Company of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM), represented the Chamber at the event to gain insights into the latest developments in Malaysia’s standardisation, conformity assessment and accreditation, as well as the development of the country’s National Quality Infrastructure. The summit brought together government agencies, industry leaders and business representatives to discuss the role of standards, conformity assessment and accreditation in enhancing industrial competitiveness, driving industrial transformation and facilitating international trade.

The Secretary-General of MITI, YBhg. Dato’ Hairil Yahri Yaacob, delivered the opening address on behalf of the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani. He emphasised that standards and accreditation are important strategic assets in strengthening national economic competitiveness and promoting industrial development. Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Department of Standards Malaysia, Mr. Chee Chee Keong, highlighted that standardisation helps ensure consistency in the quality of products and services, while accreditation provides an important foundation for building trust in international markets.

During the summit, Malaysia officially launched three national standards for the business events industry under the MS 2765:2026 series, covering event venues, professional conference organisation and professional exhibition organisation. Three accreditation schemes covering reference material producers, educational institution management systems and halal certification were also introduced to further strengthen the country’s National Quality Infrastructure, support industrial development and facilitate access to international markets.

The summit also featured discussions on digital standardisation, industrial quality and compliance, and the future development of conformity assessment and accreditation systems, with particular attention to the implications of artificial intelligence, digitalisation and sustainability trends for industry standards.

CECCM will continue to monitor relevant policy developments and industry standards, while strengthening engagement with relevant institutions to help member enterprises stay informed of Malaysia’s business environment and regulatory requirements. Through continued communication and collaboration, the Chamber aims to support Chinese-funded enterprises in Malaysia in achieving sustainable and stable long-term growth.
