On 15 August 2026, a delegation led by Cai Mingyong, Vice Chairman of the CCPIT Construction Industry Sub-Council and Secretary-General of the Integrated Building Committee, visited the Construction Industry Working Committee of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) for a cooperation meeting. Ding Qian, Vice President of CECCM and Chairman of the Construction Industry Working Committee, attended the meeting. Both sides exchanged views on China–Malaysia construction industry cooperation and support services for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas.
As more Chinese infrastructure enterprises seek to expand into Southeast Asia, existing overseas support services still face challenges in terms of coverage and responsiveness. Construction enterprises may also encounter issues such as operating independently, industry competition and insufficient adaptation to local markets. To address these challenges, the CCPIT Construction Industry Sub-Council plans to establish an overseas service platform in Malaysia to provide more comprehensive support for Chinese enterprises in expanding into overseas markets.
Leveraging the local resources of CECCM’s Construction Industry Working Committee, both sides discussed the establishment and operation of a pilot liaison office in Malaysia, with a focus on maintaining the platform’s neutrality while coordinating relevant support services. Both sides also agreed on the importance of strengthening collaboration among enterprises and promoting coordinated overseas development.
Moving forward, both sides will integrate industry resources, explore the formation of a consortium of leading enterprises, and develop industry standards aligned with Malaysian market requirements. They will continue to advance the establishment of the liaison office, industry talent development and standards cooperation, with the aim of developing a replicable service model for the construction industry in ASEAN and supporting Chinese construction enterprises in further expanding their presence in the region.
