During the Chinese New Year festive season, the Northern Malaysia Working Committee of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) actively participated in several Chinese New Year gatherings and cultural exchange activities in Penang and nearby areas, strengthening engagement with local government bodies, Chinese associations, cultural and educational institutions, and the wider community.

On 17 February 2026, the Northern Malaysia Working Committeeattended the Chinese New Year gathering hosted by the Penang Chinese Town Hall. Distinguished guests included the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and spouse, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, and Consul General of China in Penang Zhou Youbin. Deputy President Fang Xiujing represented the chapter at the event.

On 1 March 2026, the Northern Malaysia Working Committee attended the Lantern Festival celebration jointly organised by Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Dezhou University, hosted by the UTAR Confucius Institute. The event attracted over 1,500 participants from cultural organisations, businesses, academia and the community. Vice President Wang Deshuang attended the event.

On the same day, the Northern Malaysia Working Committee also attended the Chinese New Year cultural reception organised by the Penang Chapter of the Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce. Among the guests present were Ding Qiao, Deputy Consul General of China in Penang, and Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, Deputy Chairman of Tourism Malaysia. Northern Malaysia Working Committee Chairman Yan Mingjun attended the reception.
During the festive season, the Northern Malaysia Working Committee also participated in several other community events including the Ziyun Pavilion Chinese New Year celebration dinner and the Kek Lok Si Temple lighting ceremony, further strengthening ties with local organisations and the community.
