CECCM Visits Minister Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office, Sun Shuqiang

On the morning of August 14, 2023, Zhang Min, President of CECCM Malaysia, and the Vice Presidents of CECCM Malaysia, on behalf of the Chamber’s member companies, visited Minister Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office of China Embassy in Malaysia, Sun Shuqiang, to express their congratulations to Dr. Sun on his appointment.

President Zhang Min, firstly introduced to Minister Counselor Sun Shuqiang the history of the Chamber’s development, its major activities in the past two years, as well as the Chamber’s vision for the next phase of the Chamber’s development. President Zhang Min pointed out that CECCM’s rapid development in recent years could not have been achieved without the guidance and assistance of the Economic and Commercial Office of China Embassy in Malaysia, and with the arrival of Councillor Sun Shuqiang, the CECCM will continue to strengthen its communication and cooperation with the Economic and Commercial Office. Subsequently, the Vice Presidents briefly introduced their respective business operations in Malaysia, and invited Minister Counselor Sun Shuqiang to visit their organisations for on-site inspection and guidance.

Minister Counselor Sun Shuqiang has acknowledged the CECCM’s previous work and thanked all the members for their contribution to the Chamber’s work. He pointed out that the economic and trade exchanges between Malaysia and China are in good shape, and next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. As the main force of the Chamber of Chinese Enterprises, the Chamber should strive to play its role as a bridge between China and Malaysia to promote communication and exchange; at the same time, he emphasised that member companies of CECCM should have an in-depth understanding of the Malaysian market environment and related policies, and ensure that they operate in a safe and compliant manner. Lastly, he expressed his willingness to serve as a platform for Chinese and Malaysian enterprises to strengthen their ties, and to facilitate deeper and broader cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian entrepreneurs, especially in the areas of ESG and digitization, in order to continue to achieve win-win cooperation.
