Sekinchan Beach Cleanup Volunteering Program

On 25th June 2022, China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) organised a beach cleanup program at Pantai Redang, Sekinchan with a team of  50 volunteers. The beach cleanup program is one of the Chamber’s 20th anniversary activities, aiming to build a positive image of China enterprises as well as to build a good ecological environment for the local community.

Situated in the northern part of Selangor, Sekinchan is known as the “land of fishing and rice” with its vast paddy fields and fishing village scenery. As a famous tourist attraction in Sekinchan, the beach attracts many tourists where it also left behind a painful amount of garbage mainly plastic, but also masks, clothes, soda cans, etc., which are discarded anywhere.

President Zhang Min and the Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly cum Sekinchan assemblyman YB Ng Suee Lim officiated the ceremony. Both President of CECCM, Zhang Min and YB Ng Suee Lim set an example by leading everyone to start picking up trash.

During the activities, parents get to teach their children about environmental and recycling knowledge. There were also several cardboard boxes on site to sort different types of garbage, further enhancing everyone’s knowledge of environmental protection and advocating the habit of resource recycling.

The beach was cleared up and beautiful after the beach cleanup events.

The team adjourned to the coconut garden as a reward for the hard work in the morning.
