CECCM x UTAR Virtual Career Fair successfully held

On 15th April 2022, the “CECCM x UTAR Virtual Career Fair” jointly organised by the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) and the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman was successfully held. Deputy Minister of Education Malaysia, YB Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Shun, Economic and Commercial Minister Counsellor of the China Embassy in Malaysia Mdm. Zhang Peidong, Education Counselor of the China Embassy in Malaysia, Mr. Zhao Changtao, President of the CECCM, Mr. Zhang Min, UTAR President, Ir. Professor Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, and the First Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Office of the China Embassy in Malaysia, ​​ Mr. Zang Wenbo, members of CECCM, members from the Academic Affairs Office of UTAR attended the virtual opening ceremony. A total of 30 Chinese-funded enterprises participated in the career fair and nearly 700 jobs were opened for the recruitment of local talents in Malaysia. The virtual career fair will last from April to June, where a two-month recruitment platform is established for job seekers to seek jobs.

President of CECCM, Zhang Min stated that the number of job openings recruited by Chinese-funded enterprises this year has doubled the number of jobs recruited in 2019. This shows that Chinese-funded enterprises are keen to hire for local talents. He believes that talents are an important factor to the development of a company. The proportion of localized employees in the member companies of the CECCM is also very high.

UTAR President, Ir. Professor Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, pointed out that UTAR has been committed to the cultivation of hollistic education since its founding. Its educational philosophy not only aims to allow students to acquire comprehensive educational knowledge, but also attaches great importance to students’ understanding of soft skills and social skills. He emphasized that the virtual career fair can be described as a “timely rain” to help fresh graduates identify the current market trends. Through this recruitment platform, they can quickly understand the development direction of various enterprises, so as to carefully plan their future employment paths. He looks forward to co-organize  similar events with CECCM in the future, opening up opporturnities for more outstanding students and Chinese-funded enterprises.

Economic and Commercial Minister Counsellor of the China Embassy in Malaysia, Mdm. Zhang Peidong expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and the organizer for their strong support to the event. She said that the continuous recruitment of talents by Chinese-funded enterprises shows prosperity and positive development of China enterprises in Malaysia. Facing the pace of Malaysia’s entry into the post-epidemic era, many Chinese-funded enterprises need to make internal arrangements and adjustments to the new market situation, which involves a large number of professionals and employees to help enterprises start anew. In addition, she urged Chinese-funded enterprises to enhance their awareness of compliance and legal operation, earnestly fulfill their social responsibilities, and bring a positive corporate image and good contribution to Malaysia.

Deputy Minister of Education Malaysia, YB Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Shun thanked the organizers for their great efforts to facilitate the virtual career fair. He emphasized that Malaysia’s multicultural environment has cultivated many world-recognized and highly competitive Malaysian talents. Besides that, good language communication skills of the Malaysian talents have met the recruitment needs of many foreign companies. He hoped that CECCM and the UTAR  will continue to hold large-scale career fairs.

The virtual career fair was well-received and fully supported by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. It has so far received more than 20,000 visitor views.
