On 10 September, the Construction Industry Working Committee of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) received a delegation from the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), together with more than 20 business representatives, for an exchange session in Kuala Lumpur.
CECCM Vice President and President of the Construction Industry Working Committee Ding Qian attended the meeting, together with representatives of the Working Committee and Chinese construction enterprises operating in Malaysia.
During the session, participants exchanged views on key issues including Malaysia’s business environment, infrastructure development, investment plans in major industries, and challenges faced by Chinese enterprises expanding overseas.
Sun Lijuan, Director of the Industrial Cooperation Department of CCOIC, introduced the strengths of China’s key industries and the overseas development plans of Chinese enterprises. Representatives from the Working Committee and participating Chinese enterprises also shared practical experience gained from operating in Malaysia, covering localisation, regulatory compliance, construction standards, labour management and supply chain management.
In his remarks, Ding Qian shared three suggestions for Chinese enterprises seeking to expand into Southeast Asia and deepen their presence in Malaysia. First, enterprises should strengthen collaboration and integrate industry resources to enhance their overall competitiveness. Second, they should make full use of chamber platforms and local resources to support deeper local integration and stable operations. Third, enterprises should build on their core technologies and strengths while responding to local market needs, developing business models that combine Chinese expertise, international standards and local adaptability.
The exchange was part of the Working Committee’s efforts to support Chinese enterprises in expanding overseas and to strengthen China-Malaysia cooperation in infrastructure and related industries.
Moving forward, the Working Committee will continue to serve as a bridge for government-business communication and industry cooperation, bringing together industry resources and supporting Chinese enterprises in achieving compliant and sustainable development in Malaysia, while further promoting China-Malaysia economic and infrastructure cooperation.
