CECCM Northern Malaysia Working Committee Visits Key Investment Promotion Agencies in Penang Together with the Consulate General of China in Penang

On 15 April 2026, the Northern Malaysia Working Committee of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM), together with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang, paid courtesy visits to Penang Development Corporation, InvestPenang, and the Penang branch of Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

The delegation held in-depth discussions on Penang’s investment environment, industrial development, and related policies.

During the exchanges, the respective agencies introduced Penang’s overall investment promotion strategies and key development priorities, while also sharing insights on policy frameworks, approval procedures, and support mechanisms for foreign enterprises establishing operations in the state.

In recent years, Penang has continued to strengthen the development of industries such as electrical and electronics, semiconductors, medical devices, and green industries, further enhancing its industrial foundation and investment attractiveness.

The Northern Malaysia Working Committee also introduced the overall development of CECCM and the current business landscape of Chinese enterprises in Penang. With ongoing regional industrial upgrading, Chinese enterprises are gradually expanding from traditional engineering and construction contracting into manufacturing and industrial investment, reflecting a more diversified development model.

The Working Committee expressed its commitment to continuing its role as a bridge between Chinese enterprises and local institutions, strengthening communication and cooperation with government agencies, and supporting Chinese enterprises in better integrating into Penang’s industrial development for mutual growth and shared success.

This visit further strengthened mutual understanding between both sides and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.

The delegation was led by representatives from the Consulate General of China in Penang. Participants from the Northern Malaysia Working Committee included Chairman Yan Mingjun, Vice Chairman Jin Ting, and Vice Chairman Representative Tan Choon Hong.
