On September 26, 2025, the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad (ICBC Malaysia) successfully co-hosted a seminar in Kuala Lumpur on “Malaysia’s Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy Requirements and Tax Compliance.” The event was attended by  Mr. Yang Daqi, Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Mrs. Geng Hao, CEO of ICBC Malaysia and Vice President of CECCM, as well as representatives from nearly 30 Chinese enterprises in Malaysia.

The seminar focused on Malaysia’s anti-corruption legal framework and recent landmark cases, with in-depth analysis on how enterprises can build a comprehensive “TRUST framework”—including top-level commitment, risk assessment, control measures, awareness and training—to mitigate legal risks related to corruption. Addressing key concerns of Chinese enterprises, the seminar also outlined Malaysia’s tax categories and examined the correlation between tax compliance and anti-bribery risks.

In her remarks, Mrs. Geng Hao, CEO of ICBC Malaysia, emphasized that the bank has always regarded integrity and compliance as its lifeline, upholding a zero-tolerance stance toward bribery and corruption. She noted that ICBC Malaysia is committed to strengthening its reputation as a “Clean ICBC” and will leverage its global network and local expertise to work with CECCM in continuously building platforms for compliance and integrity exchange, helping Chinese enterprises in Malaysia to operate in full compliance while enhancing their ability to manage cross-border business risks.
