[Media Coverage] Thank You to The Star for Highlighting Our Tapir CSR Event

On 22 August 2025, The Star published a feature on CECCM’s “Together for Malayan Tapir” CSR initiative, co-organised with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan).

The report highlighted the Malayan tapir—nicknamed the “panda of South-East Asia”—as a rare and endangered species, with fewer than 800 left in Peninsular Malaysia. During the event, about 70 participants from 20 member companies planted 100 native trees at the Tapir Food Bank site in Hulu Selangor to help restore the habitat and food sources of this national treasure.

In his remarks, CECCM President Ni Qingjiu said: “Building bridges and roads may connect cities, but protecting nature and wildlife connects us with the future.” He emphasised that the initiative is part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness and encourage collective responsibility for wildlife conservation.

We sincerely thank The Star for the thoughtful coverage, which not only brings greater public attention to our efforts but also strengthens our resolve to continue championing environmental sustainability.
