CECCM Courtesy Visit to Star Media Group

On July 29, 2025, to strengthen ties and enhance communication between Chinese enterprises and Malaysia’s mainstream media, the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) paid a courtesy visit to Star Media Group Berhad at Star Menara.

The CECCM delegation was led by President Mr. Ni Qingjiu and joined by representatives from the vice president, including Sinohydro Corporation (M) Sdn. Bhd., Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad, and CHEC Construction (M) Sdn Bhd, China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, as well as committee member such as China Telecom (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and HQC Engineering Malaysia Sdn Bhd. Star Media Group was represented by Group Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chan Seng Fatt, Chief Content Officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng, and Executive Editor Mr. Tung Eng Hwa.

During the visit, the delegation toured Star Media Group’s Chinese-language radio station 988 and Malay-language station Suria FM, gaining insights into radio operations and programme production. The delegation interacted with the hosts of 988 FM, sharing thoughts and experiences.

In the subsequent dialogue, President Mr. Ni introduced CECCM and its main functions. He acknowledged The Star’s influential role as one of Malaysia’s leading English-language media outlets in promoting China-Malaysia economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed hope for deeper collaboration between Star Media Group and Chinese enterprises, especially in exploring new avenues for media-corporate partnerships.

The two parties engaged in an open and pragmatic discussion on aligning media platforms with the communication needs of Chinese enterprises.

As a gesture of friendship, commemorative gifts were exchanged—CECCM presented the English edition of its research report on the contributions of Chinese enterprises to Malaysia’s development, while Star Media Group gifted the inaugural issue of The Star newspaper to CECCM.
