Press Conference for the 5th World Chambers Congress Held Successfully in Kuala Lumpur

On October 22, 2024, the press conference for the 5th World Chambers Congress was successfully held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Co-hosted by the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM), the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), and the Malaysia-China Friendship Association, the congress will take place for the first time in Malaysia on December 2, 2024. It is expected to attract approximately 700 chamber leaders and entrepreneurs from around the world.

Under the theme Promoting Trade Liberalization and Advancing Economic Globalization, the congress aims to establish an international platform for trade cooperation and to deepen collaboration between China and Malaysia under the framework of the Belt and Road. As one of the co-hosts, CECCM has been actively involved in the event’s preparation.

During the press conference, CECCM President Ni Qingjiu emphasized that the global economic landscape is undergoing significant changes, presenting both challenges and opportunities. He noted that the congress will serve as an excellent platform for chambers and businesses worldwide to explore future paths for collaboration and development. He called on the media to closely follow and report on the event’s activities and encouraged Chinese enterprises to actively participate in driving global economic openness and prosperity.

Chairman Liu Jiang of the congress organizing committee highlighted Malaysia’s strategic geographic position as a key partner in the “Belt and Road Initiative” and a central ASEAN member, making it a vital bridge connecting ASEAN, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific.

Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong, President of MCA and Chairman of the congress, reflected on the achievements of Malaysia-China cooperation since diplomatic ties were established in 1974. He expressed hope that the congress would commemorate the past 50 years of collaboration while envisioning future progress.

Several CECCM members attended the press conference, demonstrating their support for the congress. At the conclusion, the organizing committee and co-hosts unveiled the event’s promotional materials, warmly inviting participation from all sectors.
