In July 2024, the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CECCM) held discussions with the Internet Society of China (ISC)to explore opportunities for cooperation in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce.
Mr. Wang Zhiguo, Vice General Manager of GCI Science & Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and a member of the CECCM board, extended a warm welcome to the Chinese delegation. He highlighted the significant economic ties and regional collaborations between China and Malaysia, emphasizing the potential for further cooperation in emerging technologies like AI, big data, and cloud computing to achieve technological progress and industrial upgrading.
Mr. Zhong Rui, Director of the International Department at the Internet Society of China, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and optimism about the collaboration prospects in the digital economy. He emphasized the importance of understanding internet-related legal protections and expressed the society’s readiness to support business expansion into international markets.
The meeting covered topics such as legal challenges for the internet industry in Malaysia, strategies for international promotion, patent protection, operational management, online education, payment methods, and user data fees. Both parties recognized Malaysia as a critical hub for the digital economy in Southeast Asia, noting its vast market potential and favorable investment environment. They committed to enhancing communication and collaboration to promote the development of the digital economy and continue fostering China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation.
